2025 Jaseng Medical Academy Winter Internship Program

Jan 22 / Younghun Kim
We are delighted to announce the successful conclusion of the 2025 Winter Internship Program at Jaseng Medical Academy, affiliated with Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine on January 17. Over the intensive two-week period, our two dedicated interns from the USA fully engaged in the multifaced world of Integrative Korean Medicine (KM). They participated in comprehensive clinical observations, hands-on training sessions, and basic research discussions, which together provided a profound and "insightful" learning experience.

This year's program was meticulously designed to blend traditional KM practices with modern medical techniques, offering interns a holistic understanding of patient-centered care. Our interns had the opportunity to shadow experienced clinicians, practice advanced KM therapies such as pharmacopuncture, Chuna manual therapy. Their active participation not only enhanced their professional skills but also enriched our collaborative learning environment.

Through this post, we invite you to take a closer look at how our 2025 Winter Internship Program was carried out.

Program Introduction

This Winter Internship Program was designed to provide holistic view of Korean Medicine (KM), combining traditional KM therapeutic therapies-like acupuncture and Chuna manual therapy-with modern diagnostics and research methodologies. By introducing multiple perspectives, we aimed to deepen the intern's understanding of how integrative approaches can enhance patient care.

Holistic Curriculum

This internship placed a strong emphasis on delivering a clear, practical understanding of Korean Medicine (KM). Interns were introduced to the essential principles of KM and how they can be applied in everyday clinical settings. Through interactive Q&A between each sessions, and real-world examples, participants discovered how evidence-based Korean Medicine can work in tandem with conventional approaches to support patient well-being.

Clinical Observations

Through the program, interns shadowed Korean Medicine Doctors at two different branch of Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine, gaining direct exposure to real-world patient's consultations. From acupuncture sessions for pain management, Chuna manual therapies to ICT and more ways of treatments, these observations offered a clear view of how KM is applied in everyday practice. Interns often remarked on how quickly they could see the immediate effects of certain treatments, which sparkled active discussion about efficacy and patient-centered care.

In addition to the clinical training, each intern chose a published paper from the Jaseng Spine & Joint Research (JSR) Institute's list of recent publications. They then created a critical poster that summarized the paper's key points and presented it at the end of the internship.

Looking Ahead

We extend our gratitude to the interns for their dedication, curiosity, and hard work-traits that made the program an engaging experience for everyone involved. We also acknowledge our skilled instructors, hospital teams, and research members who collectively shaped this well-rounded immersion into integrative KM.
As we wrap up this year's Winter Internship Program, we look forward to welcoming new interns in the future. Jaseng Medical Academy remains committed to advancing integrative healthcare through innovative educational programs that bridge traditional and contemporary medical practices.
