UNF Students and Faculty Visits Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine

On Friday, March 14, 2025, Jaseng Medical Academy warmly welcomed 26 undergraduate and graduate students, accompanied by three faculty members from the Brooks College of Health at the University of North Florida. This special visit provided the students an immersive experience into integrative Korean Medicine (KM), highlighting both historical foundations and contemporary practices through educational tours and practical sessions.

Journey Through Jaseng's Rich Heritage
at JS Museum

The students' exploration commenced at the Jaseng Medi Bio Center with a guided tour of the JS Museum. Here, students discovered the historical foundations and evolution of Jaseng's renowned non-surgical spine and joint treatments. They learned in depth about Jaseng's history, various therapeutic approaches, and its significant contributions to Korean Medicine.
Following this engaging tour, students were invited to relax and reflect at the calming Jaseng's Healing Forest.

Throughout the JS Museum tour, students received a comprehensive introduction to Jaseng's unique cultural heritage, its evolutionary journey in developing innovative medical solutions, and the scientific research behind its therapies.
The students' continual questions and keen engagement highlighted their genuine passion and curiosity about integrative medicine.

In-Depth Exploration of Herbal Medicine at Jaseng Medi Bio Center

At the conclusion of their JS Museum visit, the group proceeded directly to the Jaseng Medi Bio Center for a detailed exploration of herbal medicine production.
Here, students and faculty members observed firsthand how herbal materials are carefully selected, rigorously quality-controlled, processed, and finally distributed. This segment provided valuable insights into the meticulous standards and thorough procedures Jaseng implements to ensure the highest quality herbal treatments.

Afternoons in Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine

Following their insightful visit to the Jaseng Medi Bio Center, the students traveled to the Gangnam Jaseng Hospital of Korean Medicine—the main branch renowned for its integrative, non-surgical spine and joint care.

Upon arrival, the group was treated to a culturally enriching lunch experience Korean meals thoughtfully provided by the hospital. Dining at the hospital cafeteria offered students an additional opportunity to deepen their understanding of cultural contexts and differences.

Comprehensive Hospital Tour

After lunch, students began an extensive hospital tour that provided deeper insight into Jaseng’s integrated treatment approach. The tour included visits to various specialized treatment rooms, patient consultation areas, and sky gardens, offering students firsthand exposure to how Korean Medicine is practiced in a contemporary healthcare setting.

Throughout the hospital tour, students remained exceptionally engaged, displaying a respectful and enthusiastic attitude. They actively interacted with Jaseng's medical professionals, continuously asking insightful and thoughtful questions. The dynamic exchange of ideas during these interactions emphasized their genuine curiosity about integrative medicine and global healthcare practices.

Interactive Clinical Demonstration

A particular highlight of their visit was an interactive clinical demonstration conducted by Dr. Na Kyoung Lee, faculty member of Jaseng Medical Academy. Students voluntarily participated in the demonstration, during which they observed acupuncture and pharmacopuncture treatments performed on peers experiencing real pain and discomfort. Students were amazed to witness firsthand the immediate reduction in pain levels among their peers following the treatments. This remarkable live demonstration significantly enhanced their practical understanding of the effectiveness and value of Korean Medicine treatments.

Concluding with Q&A Session

To conclude their enriching day at Jaseng, students gathered for an interactive Q&A session led by Andrew Jang, Team Leader of Jaseng Medical Academy. The session provided a relaxed yet intellectually stimulating atmosphere for students to address their remaining questions and explore deeper insights into the Korean healthcare system. Topics discussed ranged from healthcare policies and accessibility to integrative medicine practices, patient management, and the cultural differences in healthcare approaches between Korea and the United States.

Students utilized this opportunity extensively, asking numerous thoughtful questions reflecting both their curiosity and careful reflection on the day's experiences. Andrew Jang thoughtfully addressed each question, providing clarity and fostering meaningful dialogue that helped deepen the students' overall comprehension and appreciation of integrative healthcare.
